Hey there beautiful!
Today is the new moon and the perfect time to harness the power of the moon to help manifest your desires.
Do you feel drawn to the moon like I do? Do you love her comforting glow? Her mystery and her shadows?
Oh yes, the moon is a symbol of the Divine Feminine energy and don’t we know it!
The Moon reflects the feminine essence in her passiveness and receptivity, reflecting the rays of the sun, and at the same time it also exerts great power, controlling the tides in the oceans, plant and even hair growth.
The moon also represents our unconscious minds and our intuitive, emotional reactions. Positively inspired by the Moon, we are creative, intuitive, sentimental, adaptable, introspective, and protective. If negatively inspired, we become moody, restless and irrational.
You may feel the power of the full moon quite obviously – feeling crazy (lunatic), emotional, active, extremely creative &/or unable to sleep.
Isn’t it amazing that even from the depths of our technology-filled world, we are still affected by the moon from way up there in that magical sky?
Women’s bodies are naturally synchronized with the moon. The lunar cycle mirrors the average length of our menstrual cycle. And just like the moon we renew, come to fullness and renew again each month for a large part of our lives, our bodies following the ebb and flow of the moon, just like the tides.
(Water too represents our feminine energy. You can read a beautiful article about this here http://fatmazaidi.com/flow-like-water/)
In a time when artificial light was not prevalent and in communities where women were in tune with nature, menstruation occurred for most with the new moon and at this time women would receive space and time together.
In some tribal cultures, women would go to a separate moon lodge to menstruate together, since their cycles were synched up with each other and the moon. Have you ever had this experience living with other women?
A menstruating woman was seen as having great power as she could bleed for days and not die and the women were excluded from the hunt and other ceremonies at this time.
Even today, an Italian friend of mine (in Australia) is not allowed to participate in the yearly making of the ‘sugo’ if she is menstruating for the reason that a menstruating woman spoils the sauce. What power we posses! Did you know it?
Honouring the phases of the moon with ritual connects us with our Divine Feminine energy, with nature and with our bodies.
The new moon is a time for shedding of the old and inviting in new inspiration. Similarly, if you are menstruating at a different phase of the moon, this is also a time to reflect and rest. It’s a time when we are being cleansed and we have the opportunity to let go of that which no longer serves.
By responding to the rhythm of nature and our bodies, we replenish our energy. There is a time for working and creating and there is a time for introspection. If we don’t take this time for ourselves and say, pop a panadol to push through the day, we continue to deplete our body’s energy stores until we feel burnt out.
Take the time to honour the cycle of your female body and of the moon by creating rituals for yourself.
What are you ready to release? What have you realised lately? What thoughts and behaviours are no longer serving you? What are you inviting in from today? What inspiration are you seeking? What would you love to create?
On this SUPER new moon :
“The Aquarian New Moon message: today is the first day of your life. The past is history. The future is a mystery. The present is the gift. All power is in the choices you make today.”
A new moon ritual :
Go outside by the light of the moon and by water if possible. On a piece or strips of paper write out what behaviours or beliefs your are letting go of.
When you are finished strike a match and burn each one. This incorporates all the elements of fire, air, wind and earth.
Then sit and journal on what you are creating or manifesting, how you desire to feel and what thoughts you are choosing to believe from now on.
(And of course if you are reading this the day after January 20th, it’s not too late. You can still practice a new moon ritual to release, refresh and renew.)
Through reflection, we can gain deep insights, heal the wounds we have experienced, replenish our energy and move forward on our journey.
We are then able to tap into our Divine Feminine nature and be our authentic, powerful selves – wise, intuitive, and free.
♥ I’d love to hear from you! ♥ Let me know what you are ready to release and what you are inviting into your life for the next lunar cycle.♥
