4 Ways to Grow your Self-Esteem

Would you love to be your most beautiful healthiest self with ease?

Yes please!!

In order to have the life, the love and the body we desire, we have to be able to say no to what we don’t want.

This requires the Self-Esteem to know you’re worth it. you deserve it. it’s coming to you.

Today I am writing about self-esteem because I asked some of the lovely women in my community what their biggest challenge was and this was the most common answer.

Self-esteem = Confidence in one’s own worth or abilities

Too little self-esteem can see you making bad choices, like when it comes to food or relationships, and not living up to your full potential.

Too much self-esteem can lead to not considering the feelings of others or making everything about you (and boring or being irrelevant to others).

Self-esteem is the result of thoughts, feelings, behaviour and actions.

Ok so that’s the facts! Now how does this relate to us?

Recently I was sharing on social media how a Balinese lady in the shop I was buying a new dress, slapped me on the arse and affectionately said “big bottom!”

Once upon a time that would have had me running to the nearest convenience store.

What changed?

Well, when I was 23 I had a boyfriend who worshiped my arse.

But the thing is that my self-esteem, when it came to my looks, was tied to his feelings about me and my arse. And his compliments.

When that went and we broke up, it was pretty hard for me to not have the nourishment of his compliments anymore. My ego went crazy resisting that!!

So it was that I went on a journey of finding how to love myself and not only my looks without the outside affirmations, but also the inner reserve of strength that it takes to fully pursue my dream career and keep. putting. myself. out. there.

So amazing when someone’s paying you attention, but when that goes…

Whoop! All your excitement and joie de vivre too…

Compliments are awesome and I fully encourage you to say what’s on your mind when you are admiring another lady or gentleman.

But this inner reserve of strength and belief in ourselves, all on our own…

This is the challenge for all of us.

Feeling beautiful inside and out.

Feeling worthy.

Of amazing love.

Of our dream career.

Of delicious high-vibe food.

So we don’t settle for the crumbs.

 

This can be really sneaky…

Out of fear we choose the safest path.

We stay and settle rather than starting.

We feel stuck. But we know we don’t want this.

The dis-ease.

Of eating crap.

Of reading, watching, listening to crap.

Of accepting crap. Bending. Being bent.

We’re not happy with our job so we looking for fulfillment elsewhere…

In a relationship.

In our body.

In our food.

Or we’re not happy in our relationship so we look for fulfillment in our job.

I do believe we can have it all…

Good health. Good job. Hot body. Hot relationship.

But it starts with YOU saying YES.

Awakening.

Prioritising YOU.

Going on a journey.

4 Ways to Grow your Self-Esteem

1. Release the Habits that are Holding You Back

This was a huge pain point for me and so I became an expert on it and now help my clients to transform drinking habits, sugar habits, procrastination and anything that doesn’t feel good anymore.

I used to be the one coming home from a job that zapped my energy, filling up on coffee and all kinds of crap from shitty TV to gossip to sugary snacks.

It kept me from the life and the work I desired.

Transforming these areas transformed my self-esteem too. I learned how to work with my inner rebel and not against her. I learned how to motivate myself to complete the work in the way that’s best for me and my creativity. I learned how to be persistent and resilient too!!

Lots of people don’t manage to transform their annoying habits because they try to put restrictions on themselves that are simply not fun or sustainable to keep up.

Rather than striving to be perfect, find out who you are and how you work

2. Silence the Inner Critic

So often when I post something online or send out my Museletter there is at one point the voice that comes in and says ‘Should you really have said that?’ and I get the feeling of embarrassment, even a wave of shame sometimes.

What do I do?

Block it out. Go to the space between words. Get on with my life.

Because communicating here enables me to live out my bigger purpose, which is to help more women to heal, find their peace and power and live out their best lives.

There’s a bully in your head guilting you out and bossing you around most likely. We all have it. Some people just pay more attention to it than others.

But you can train yourself to pay less attention to it by doing practices like meditation, where you become the observer of your thoughts, or by giving the voice something good to talk about by repeating positive affirmations as you go about your day.

Know that you are not that voice. And just because you have a thought doesn’t mean it’s the truth.

3. Keep Trying

A failure if not a failure unless you give up. Life is a learning curve.

So don’t let setbacks or lack of immediate results stop you … I know it can be frustrating!! But use it as a chance to go deeper, find out, learn more.

I mean, don’t keep trying the same thing hoping to get different results.

That’s the definition of madness.

But observation, education, experience, implementation and persistence, plus that feeling that ‘There’s no way I’m going back to what was’… this makes success!!

Focus on the next step rather than the end result and keep practising.

Practise. Practise. Practise. Progress.

4. Focus on How Far You’ve Come

Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle or ending.

When you focus on your progress, rather than someone else’s results, you can feel a sense of achievement and feel good about yourself.
