My Favourite Feminine Practice…

1470069_10153894868841885_5456957456003704056_n

Hello!! I am writing to you from Albany, a seaside town in the South of West Australia, five hours from Perth.

Remember I wrote to you back in January about my desire to go on a road-trip and then how two of them had manifested straight away?

This is the second of them!! I was invited by one of the wonderful women on my course to explore this area with her and visit some places to hold retreats in the near future. So that’s what we’re doing… Collaborating and exploring.

But no matter where I go and who I am with, I always take the time to perform my favourite feminine practice…

This practice helps me to be happy, raises my vibration, allows me to share more positive energy with those around me and the world, is a way of receiving and giving back to myself or replenishing my energy, keeps me healthy and slim, helps me to understand what I think and feel, nourishes my creativity, keeps me company, allows me to align with life, see the deeper meaning, practice gratitude and be in a state of awe, clear out the emotional muck and…opens me up to a life of wonder, magical happenings and miracles.

Want to know what this AMAZING practice is?

It’s really so simple and I just cannot believe that more people don’t do it!!

Journalling.

You could leave me on a desert island with a stack of journals and an endless supply of pens and I would not try to escape. I would be happy!!

Today I’m going to tell you how I do it and also why it’s such a beautiful practice for getting into your feminine energy and creating more flow in your life.

How I do it is simple…

I journal most mornings when I wake up with my coffee in bed or at my desk.

I journal when I feel stuck or angry or emotional or sad or happy.

I journal pretty much every day and sometimes more than once a day.

I love journalling in the afternoons and at night if I can stay awake for it.

I also have 2 journals. One is A5 sized that I carry in my handbag – at the moment the pages are unlined and this tends to make me more creative.

My main one is an A4 sized notebook by Clairefontaine (‘the world’s best paper!’). The paper is actually very important to me. It has to be thick and really good quality.

The other thing that is vital is that the journal is not with ring-binding. My hand needs to be able to glide across the page and my thoughts to flow without obstruction.

You can see I take it very seriously. I have been doing it since I was 11 but the beauty of it is that you can start at any time.

So why journal and how is it a feminine practice?

It helps us to understand ourselves and process our thoughts and feelings

I used to feel that I didn’t know what I thought until I wrote it down and worked through it. Journalling helps us to process and to know ourselves better!! This is why this is such a necessary practice to accompany coaching or any kind of personal development work.

Journalling also helps to clear out the difficult feelings and ‘brain slime’. When we write something on the page, we can leave it there. It’s not swimming round our heads in repetitive thoughts anymore but allowing a clear space for divine guidance and inspiration to enter.

Journalling Prompt : “I am feeling…”

It allows us to align with life

When we accept that whatever is happening is supposed to be happening and go with it, we get into the flow of life and open ourselves up to miracles. Journalling allows us to work this out.

Socrates said,

“Wisdom begins in wonder.”

Yes wisdom begins in wonder. It doesn’t begin in anguish and resistance. When we align with life we are in our power!!

Journalling Prompt : Ask the question, “How can I….?” How can I accept or transform this situation? How can I meet the love of my life? How can I get back into my power? How can I start a new career? How can I have a better relationship with my daughter?

It helps us feel spiritually and emotionally connected

This is why I can and love to travel solo. I always have a friend to talk to – one that never gets sick of hearing my inner processes or thoughts. I can write and write about the same thing (or person) over and over until I’m done, which allows me to bring better energy to those around me and not be a total bore. How awesome is that?

Recently during my moon time (I’m now a person who says moon time by the way), I stayed in bed most of the day and wrote…

“Pleasure is this orgasmic bed of pens on a Saturday afternoon.

The world is falling away.

It’s just me and a lone violin.”

Journalling Prompt : Write about where you are with all your senses. What can you see, feel, smell and hear?

It puts us in receiving mode and has no purpose

Lots of women have a problem to stop and be ‘unpurposeful’ and that’s the attraction with the feminine.

When I am feeling I have been giving a lot, journalling is one of the ways I give back to myself. What I love most is that I can write whatever I want and it’s for no one but me.

Through my work I obviously do a lot of writing for others and put it out into the world. The feminine energy is cultivated within though and it feels really good to go within and journal just for me.

At the same time, often through journalling I receive ideas and inspiration for my work. This musletter started in my journal, for example.

Journalling Prompt : “I am so happy that…”

It allows us to be more present to and have a deeper experience of life

One of my greatest muses is Anais Nin, a writer in 1920s and 30s Paris (and later but that’s the period I love) whose journals were published over several volumes.

I read some of them at university in my early 20s and loved the way she cherished the smallest details of her life, her experiences and workings of her emotions and psyche.

I also discovered that my life became richer through the description of it. I noticed the details. And I became present to it. Present to my life.

“People living deeply have no fear of death.”

– Anais Nin

Through journalling our life becomes a cherished adventure. We don’t just skip by it in a blur but value it and in the valuing of our adventures and our experiences, we create more of them. We live more deeply.

Journalling Prompt : Write about something that happened to you.

It’s fun!!

Are you having enough fun in your life? When I was in Bali before Christmas, most days I spent several hours at breakfast with my journal. I loved describing the honeymooning Indian couples purely for my own pleasure.

Sometimes in my journal I’m just being creative, writing phrases that come to me, using different coloured pens (good pens make me happy too), catching conversation as it falls upon my ears.

On Wednesday I took my journal to a bar and sipped a glass of Moet while using my favourite pen and journalling. FUN!! I felt wild and free and high vibe all at once.

The other day in my favourite cafe I overheard, “I was actually the executor of the ashes” and wrote it in my journal. It was a phrase about the dead that was so full of life. It was a short snippet of conversation that said so much to me about the one saying it. So I collected it for no other reason but that.

Journal Prompt : Take your journal to a cafe or bar and write about what you are drinking and how it makes you feel or what you can see or observations about the people around you or the conversation you hear.

It is a way of cultivating in a state of gratitude and AWE.

When you are in a state of gratitude and awe you are in the realm of the miraculous. So this is something I practice and recommend doing every day.

When you begin seeing everything as a miracle, it will be so.

Journalling Prompt : 5 Beautiful Moments from your day, 5 reasons you are lucky or that old fave, 5 things you are grateful for starting “I am so grateful that…”

So my lovely, that is why I journal and how I find my muse, that is how I cultivate the beautiful feminine energy within and also what keeps me emotionally balanced (and sane).

Tell me about your experience with journalling and how or why you do it. I’d also love to know if you found what I’ve written useful and if you are cultivating your feminine energy in this way now.

This week I’m looking forward to hosting the second last Wednesday Session in Fremantle on The Art of Feminine Flow.

Feminine Flow : exploring how to cultivate your juiciness and your joy, be in your feminine energy, align with life, synchronicity, letting go, exploring your wild + free spirit and opening yourself up to miracles.
