What if not knowing is the way?

Friend, what if not knowing is the way to where you are going?

If 2020 taught us anything, it is that Life is unpredictable and, for all our plans and organising, we really don’t know what’s round the corner. Cancer has taught me this too. There have been times, these past seven years, when I really thought I knew what I was doing, like with the NORI protocol and the other books I read that seemed to hold the answers. Then I realised that I know nothing.

I have come to this conclusion a few times. First, it was when I thought I was healthy and then found out I had a 6cm metastatic breast cancer tumour in my brain sac. Then I tried to carry on as usual, then Life showed me who’s boss again, when I accidentally deleted all my YouTube videos one fateful Saturday. Then I really gave up and, slowly, Life started flowing again. Carefully, I went, taking baby steps not grand gestures.

Since then, there have been times when I tried too hard again and Life had to slap me back down. In 2020, so much stuff kept happening, that I truly did give up. I seriously had no idea how to proceed. So I just meditated a lot daily, like for two hours. At first I tried the Dr Joe Dispenza method, but that was also trying too hard. How did I know? It had no effect. Then I just started to meditate by focusing on my body again, just gently. And letting Life lead. Things got better.

And they have been ever since. I think! No not I think, I feel. Thinking is the problem. Because we think we know, but we don’t. So I’m just seeing what happens. What happened when I let go and started saying “I have no clue what’s best for me”? People showed up, experts, appointments were made. I didn’t have to do so much. Kyle Cease talks about this, Can you sit in the space of “I don’t know and it’s ok”?  So that’s where I’m at.

How about you?

What if feeling shame is the way to success?

Friend, what if feeling shame is the way to success?

In the last few years I’ve been getting more in touch with my feelings rather than being too positive. Because I realised five years ago that my problem is that I get the lesson before I have truly felt the experience. And when I look around at people who are successful, whether it be in health or career, it seems that they are not only positive but capable of feeling a full range of emotions.

Spiritual and manifesting teachers like Lacy Phillips and Kyle Cease teach this too. Kyle, my favourite guru of the moment, actually says that when we cry, we alchemise the trauma and emotions in our bodies. So I’ve been trying to cry more. And welcoming it when it comes. When I can’t, I use this method for feeling feelings. It really works! I used it when my ex husband told me he was having a baby with his new partner and I just felt numb.

When I was practising the law of attraction a lot, I also realised that when I just tried to be positive rather than feel my feelings, it was like trying to hold a beach ball under the water, and wasn’t effective. The teachers say that when we are present, whether in an activity or meditating, feelings arise and we just have to hold space for them, just let them be. Because an emotion is energy in motion, it will dissipate.

Recently I noticed too that when I wake from a nap, I often feel shame, over putting myself out there and online. Now that I am aware of it, I welcome it. And feel it. It only lasts for a few minutes. When I don’t do embarrassing things, I don’t experience this. But by feeling it, we release it, and then we don’t have to eat, text, stalk, smoke, drink it or do any other addictive behaviours to avoid feeling it. And our vibration lifts. So we are more powerful, energetically, and things just seem to work out. Maybe.

How about that?

What if everything happens for a reason?

Some people don’t think everything happens for a reason. I am not that person. Just take the recent example of thinking I might try to learn 7 languages. Whether this works out of not, it led to a number of benefits. I became motivated to blog again, I found a shorter bio on the end of my museletter and used it for a competition, I started writing short blogs (yay!) and I wrote out a list of my priorities and realised that publishing books was at the top.

Now when I decide what to do with my time, I glance at this list of five to help me decide what is most important. Because sometimes things that are urgent take up our time but there are also important things that need doing and scheduling in. So, even if I am not yet writing about learning 7 languages, this emphasis on priorities and scheduling will be a key to success. Right?!

Scheduling may not sound sexy but it is. It allows us to have more free time. When I was recovering from the brain surgery in 2016, the only book I allowed into my atmosphere were L’Art de la Simplicite by Dominique Loreau (The Art of Simplicity), and I implemented it. This is still paying off.

But anyway, this is not a blog post about scheduling (it ain’t that sexy!). What if everything happens for a reason?! Like cancer. I know it sucks massively and all, for everyone involved, but personally I’ve received such gifts from having cancer. And I do think that illness is here to teach us something. But that’s me.

How about you?
