The Waiting

I had a very good day on Tuesday feeling down.

It’s nice to feel down sometimes.

It feels so real. So grounded.

I lay on my bed and all these words flowed to me.

Lethargy tied me down while inspiration crept in.

I’m just going to wait here until something becomes apparent.

It’s too hot to go out. For years later, summer finally arrives.

Whoever said wo-man cannot live on ice tea popsicles alone is a fool. Just trying to stop myself from dying of boredom on the nori protocol this week.

Here I am healing. Feeling.

Waiting to be discovered. Uncovered. Under the cover of night.

It’s not a huge deal. Rice in the sink.

Come closer see my scars.

– Words like that –

Maybe I’m just here to entertain.

Or not even.

Maybe the new will rise from the dead.

These are my thoughts on a Thursday.

Thank you for being here. I’m shocked but delighted.

Wishing you well wild heart..

Lots of love,

Mireille xx

Wonderlust, set in 2007, is about a travel agent from Perth who goes to Switzerland on a cultural adventure, believing in perfection but finding life in the imperfection. It’s about writing and the switch from consumer to creator, body obsession, a Russian artist, an Irish body-builder, a Swiss design draftsman and reality TV.

It’s a coming-of-age story of an Australian woman, aged 26, and I was inspired by Henry Miller’s Tropic of Cancer. Cafes. Walking. Talking. Loneliness. And ja, there’s romance too.
